Salsbury Steak with Onion Gravy
1 lb. ground beef
1 T. worcestershire sauce
1 T. my house seasoning (equal parts garlic powder, onion powder and pepper...combine and store in an airtight container)
1 T. ketchup
1/4 tsp. smoked paprika
1 med. onion, halved and sliced
2 T. butter
2 heaping T. all purpose flour
14 oz. can beef broth
1/4 C. milk
salt and pepper to taste
In a bowl mix together the ground beef and next 4 ingredients. Shape into 4 equal patties and fry in a skillet till brown on both sides. Remove to a plate and set aside. Using the same skillet, drain off the grease and melt the butter. Add in the onions frying until tender, about 5-6 minutes, over med. high heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 30 seconds, combining. Stir in the broth and milk, bring up to a boil and reduce to medium heat. Add the meat back to the skillet and cook for 12 minutes, turning half way through. Season the gravy with salt and pepper to taste before serving.
