Crispy Fried Onion Rings
1/2 C. all purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika 1/2 tsp. chili powder 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper 1/4 tsp. garlic powder pinch of salt 1 large egg 1/2 C. milk 1 C. plain bread crumbs 1 large sweet onion, sliced 1/4" thick and rings separated veg. oil for frying
Combine the first 7 ingredients in a bowl. Whisk together the egg and milk in another bowl and place the bread crumbs in a bowl. Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture and place on a baking sheet. Once all the onions have been coated in the flour, pour the remaining flour into the egg mixture and combine well. Heat 1/2" oil in a skillet to 350 degrees. Working in batches, dip each ring into the wet mixture then into the bread crumbs and fry until golden on each side. Drain on paper towels.
